Myelin Repair Foundation

Myelin Repair Overview

(return to previous page)

"The MRF model combines curiosity-based discovery research with defined goal-oriented research. Many of us are monitoring the progress of the MRF with the expectation that it will become a model for research in other diseases.” — Richard Murphy, Salk Institute
President and CEO (Retired)

The Myelin Repair Foundation has a single, narrow focus:  Discover and develop myelin repair treatments to improve the lives of people suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS). To do this, MRF harnesses and channels the talents of five of the world’s leading neuroscientists approaching the study of myelin from five different perspectives — immunology, genetics, developmental biology, molecular biology and proteomics — in an outcome-driven research plan.

Accelerating Research Progress

MRF provides the funding, collaborative process strategy, technology and management that enable the scientists to focus their energies on science and not administration. For complex diseases like multiple sclerosis, this unique business/science model significantly accelerates the process of drug discovery.

Since the MRF research team began its research in July of 2004, our rate of progress and the results achieved are unparalleled.  Our accomplishments include the following:

Formula for Success

The Myelin Repair Foundation has brought together an aggressive plan with the right scientific team.  The result: We're speeding the time it takes to develop and move scientific discoveries from the laboratory to the MS patient -- making the process up to 100% faster.
