Our Vision: To accelerate the rate of medical research
in order to more rapidly bring treatments to people with diseases for which
there are no effective treatments or cures.
Our Mission: To accelerate the discovery of myelin repair
treatments to improve the lives of people suffering from multiple sclerosis
(MS), and to establish the Accelerated Research Collaboration™ (ARC™)
model as a new paradigm for medical research.
After 50 years of research looking for a cure, there is still little known
about MS. The Myelin Repair Foundation was formed to leverage recent myelin-related
scientific breakthroughs and develop effective myelin repair treatments.
Treatments that repair damage are a "band-aid" that will greatly
improve the quality of life until a cure can be found.
With its innovative model for medical research, its narrow focus, and its
five-year timeline, the Myelin Repair Foundation is on track toward achieving
its goal to license at least one myelin repair drug target by 2009.
MRF’s Accelerated Research Collaboration — bringing best-business
practices to the world of academic research — is speeding the time
to drug discovery by as much as 100%.
